Artcut will not tolerate any such registry issues. So many times I have corrected these problems simply by running a registry fixer program. Practically all problems people have getting Artcut to talk to cutters (of all flavours) are due to either settings in Artcut OR (and most often) issues within your PC. I have tried to explain to them that if they made it AU$100 and offered some service and assistance customers would be happy to pay that price. I have suggested many times to Beijing Wentai (the writers of Arcut) that they should provide better (some?) service and support the product better, they argue that it is sold cheaply (AU$8) so they can’t afford to. There is only one, fully working version. I notice some comments about "dummy" or "demonstration" versions of Artcut. You will then need to tell artcut what port it is on before it will work. USB wouldn’t work for me so I settled for COM2 and the cutter works perfectly. If Artcut allowed you to select any port then this wouldn’t be a problem but as far as I can tell it will only let you select LPT, USB, COM1 & COM2. I tried sharing a port and it wouldn’t work for me. If something else is already using that port number then you may need to reassign that afterwards as it still might not work. There is a drop down list where it says port number, you need to select COM1 or COM2. Select the Port Settings tab and click the Advanced button. Right click on your cutter name and select properties. If it’s anything other than 1 or 2 then that could be your problem. Your cutter should be listed there with the port number in brackets. On the list that opens up, expand the item labelled as Ports. Go in to control panel and click the System icon.
